Ice Maker Repair
Clear-ice and standard Sub-Zero ice makers producing hollow cubes, frozen blocks, off-tasting ice or nothing at all.
What people describe when they call
- Cubes come out hollow and about half the size they used to be.
- The bin fills with one frozen block instead of loose cubes.
- No ice for two days, though the water dispenser still runs fine.
- The ice tastes of the freezer and the cubes look milky rather than clear.

Two days with no ice, though the water dispenser ran fine. The recirculating pump had given out on the clear-ice side, and he was upfront that it comes from a supplier — so we waited a week for ice.
Cubes came out milky and tasted of whatever sat beside them. He flushed the reservoir, changed the filter and cleaned scale off the mold. Clear ice again, tasting of nothing, which is the point.
Hollow cubes for the best part of a year, so we had stopped using the bin. It was the inlet valve, not the module, and he said so plainly. Full-size cubes again, first visit.
